The Clinical Academic Centre Católica-Luz (CAC-CL) is pleased to announce the award of a €200,000 grant from the Agência de Investigação Clínica e Inovação Biomédica (AICIB) and the Fundação para a Ciência e a Tecnologia (FCT) in the beginning of 2023. This funding represents a significant endorsement of CAC-CL’s mission to advance clinical research, translational innovation, and biomedical excellence in Portugal.

AICIB, tasked with promoting and coordinating activities in clinical research, translational innovation, and biomedical development, awarded the grant to support CAC-CL’s pioneering initiatives aimed at optimizing clinical, scientific, and technological potential across our healthcare landscape.

“The FCT/AICIB grant has a great significance in terms of recognizing the relevance that Clinical Academic Centers have in the harmonization and optimization of all activities regarding the world of Medicine.”, said António Medina de Almeida, President of CAC- CL and Dean of Católica Medical School.

“For the Clinical Academic Centre Católica-Luz, it allows the implementation of the entire structure that will favor the articulation between medical education, research and clinical practice, promoting the continuous improvement of healthcare.”, adds Francisca Leite, Executive Director of Hospital da Luz Learning Health.

The grant, awarded through a rigorous evaluation process overseen by AICIB and FCT, underscores CAC-CL’s commitment to promoting a culture of scientific excellence, collaboration, and value creation in healthcare. It will support initiatives aimed at advancing medical education, accelerating biomedical research, and strengthening clinical practice to address pressing healthcare challenges.
