{"id":12771,"date":"2025-05-14T11:39:17","date_gmt":"2025-05-14T11:39:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cac-cl.pt\/?p=12771"},"modified":"2025-07-17T10:43:02","modified_gmt":"2025-07-17T10:43:02","slug":"medical-education-day-2025-catolica","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cac-cl.pt\/pt\/medical-education-day-2025-catolica\/","title":{"rendered":"Medical Education Day 2025"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On May 13th, the <strong>Medical Education Day<\/strong> took place at <strong><strong>Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Cat\u00f3lica<\/strong><\/strong>, an event dedicated to sharing pedagogical practices, innovative teaching and learning methodologies, and both national and international experiences in the field of medical education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Organized by <strong>Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Cat\u00f3lica<\/strong> and the <strong>Cat\u00f3lica Luz Clinical Academic Centre<\/strong>, the event welcomed renowned national and international speakers in medical education, creating a day filled with reflection and knowledge exchange.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Opening Session featured remarks by <strong><em>Jos\u00e9 Manuel Pereira de Almeida<\/em><\/strong>, Vice-Rector of Universidade Cat\u00f3lica Portuguesa, <strong><em>Ant\u00f3nio Medina de Almeida<\/em><\/strong>, Dean of Cat\u00f3lica Medical School (CMS) and <strong><em>Pedro Mateus<\/em><\/strong>, Head of the Department of Medical Education of Cat\u00f3lica Medical School.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The day\u2019s first session was led by <strong><em>Yoon Soo Park<\/em><\/strong>, who introduced key approaches to educational data analysis, highlighting major trends in the United States.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the second session, <em><strong>Maria Am\u00e9lia Ferreira<\/strong> <\/em>explored the current shifts and uncertainties in medical education, emphasizing the evolving narrative within today\u2019s educational landscape.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The program continued with the first roundtable, hosted by the CMS Department of Medical Education, featuring <em><strong>Sofia Men\u00e9res<\/strong>, <strong>Frederico Sim\u00f5es do Couto<\/strong><\/em>, and <strong><em>Teresa Nazareth<\/em><\/strong>, who shared an internal perspective on the development and implementation of a <strong>problem-based learning (PBL)<\/strong> curriculum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>After this session, speakers and participants gathered for a lunch break.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The afternoon resumed with the fourth session, presented by <strong><em>Maria Jos\u00e9 Di\u00f3genes<\/em><\/strong>, who shared the experience of Lisbon Medical School in promoting a more human-centered and innovative approach to medical education, focusing on the role of Pedagogical Councils and medical education departments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The second roundtable featured <strong>Cat\u00f3lica Medical School students<\/strong>, <strong><em>F<\/em><\/strong><em><strong>rederico Saragga<\/strong>, <strong>Joana Martins<\/strong>,<\/em> <strong><em>Martim Oliveira<\/em><\/strong>, and <strong><em>Sam Izadloo<\/em><\/strong> who shared their experiences with scientific research during medical training. Their testimonies emphasized the vital role of student-centered initiatives in shaping future medical professionals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final session welcomed<em> <strong>Ara Tekian<\/strong><\/em>, who offered a global perspective on Master of Health Professions Education (MHPE) programs, comparing international models and career paths in health education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event concluded with closing remarks by <em><strong>Ant\u00f3nio Medina de Almeida<\/strong>,<\/em> Diretor of CMS, who thanked all speakers and participants for their valuable contributions.
