Our Executive Director, Ana Rita Constante, attended the 4th National Meeting on Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation on May 14th in Braga, representing the Cat\u00f3lica Luz Clinical Academic Centre (CAC-CL).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event, organized by AICIB \u2013 Clinical Research and Biomedical Innovation Agency at ULS Braga<\/strong>, offered a valuable opportunity to reflect on the European Union’s role in advancing clinical trials, the current and future landscape of clinical research centers in Portugal, and the contribution of Clinical Academic Centres (CACs) to fostering biomedical innovation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Here are some of the highlights from the event:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The importance of actively involving patients in clinical research was reinforced, advocating a shift in their role from participants to co-creators. This approach ensures that each interaction generates mutual value and real impact across the entire healthcare system.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The role of Clinical Academic Centres (CACs) as cooperative consortia integrating differentiated hospital institutions, health schools, research centers, and strategic partners. Their core mission clinical care, health education, and research\/innovation was highlighted as the foundation of their integrated approach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

One of the most important sessions for the reality of the Clinical Academic Centre was the session titled “The Role of Clinical Academic Centres (CACs) in Driving Change”<\/strong>,<\/em> as it was valuable to understand other perspectives shared on how CACs can structure their governance, enhance innovation, and promote integration between research and clinical care.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
