The Cat\u00f3lica-Luz Clinical Academic Center (CAC-CL) was represented at HIMSS’25, which took place recently and is widely recognized as one of the most influential events in the field of digital health and technological innovation in healthcare.

Our Executive Director, Ana Rita Constante<\/strong>, actively participated in the conference, closely following the key topics that are shaping the future of healthcare at both the European and global levels.<\/p>\n\n

A Strategic Start<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The event began with a deep reflection on the European Health Data Space (EHDS), highlighting both the challenges and opportunities surrounding the secure and ethical sharing of health data among EU Member States. The discussion also focused on the transformative role of digitalization in the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n\n

The Patient at the Center of Innovation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Throughout the sessions, the importance of co-creation with patients and their active involvement in the development of healthcare solutions was made clear. The integration of patients at every stage of the therapeutic journey was widely discussed as a key factor in achieving more personalized, effective, and human-centered care.<\/p>\n\n

Artificial Intelligence and the Healthcare Systems of the Future<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

Another highlight of the event was the session dedicated to Artificial Intelligence in healthcare, where the various roles of this technology were discussed from diagnosis to hospital management. Among the speakers was Ricardo Baptista Leite, M.D., City Councillor at the Sintra Municipality, CEO of Health AI \u2013 the Global Agency for Responsible Artificial Intelligence in Health, and a leading figure in several academic projects. His contribution reinforced the need for a responsible and ethical implementation of AI in the healthcare sector.<\/p>\n\n

Collaboration Between Clinical Academic Centers<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

On the final day of the event, a meeting took place between representatives of CAC-CL and 2CA-Braga (Clinical Academic Center \u2013 Braga), Beatriz Ara\u00fajo and Maria Jo\u00e3o Marques. The discussion focused on sharing internationalization strategies and exploring the growing role of digital transformation in the mission of Clinical Academic Centers. The conversation also emphasized the critical importance of scientific data in promoting high-quality research.<\/p>\n\n
