{"id":14132,"date":"2025-11-17T10:47:15","date_gmt":"2025-11-17T10:47:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/cac-cl.pt\/?p=14132"},"modified":"2025-11-17T10:50:54","modified_gmt":"2025-11-17T10:50:54","slug":"event-nerq-training-on-responsible-conduct-of-research","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/cac-cl.pt\/pt\/event-nerq-training-on-responsible-conduct-of-research\/","title":{"rendered":"NERQ Training on Responsible Conduct of Research"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"14132\" class=\"elementor elementor-14132\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-57fe7a4 e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"57fe7a4\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5c4dd5d0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"5c4dd5d0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\n<p>Coordinated by <a href=\"https:\/\/fm.ucp.pt\/pt-pt\/pessoa\/mara-de-sousa-freitas\"><strong>Mara de Sousa Freitas<\/strong>,<\/a> with expert trainers from the <strong>Network for Education on Research Quality (NERQ)<\/strong>, this training offered a unique opportunity to explore the ethical foundations of research, address grey areas in everyday practice, and engage with emerging topics such as artificial intelligence, open science, and reproducibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The opening session featured <strong>Peter Hanenberg<\/strong> (Director of the Cat\u00f3lica Doctoral School), <strong>Pedro Mateus<\/strong> (Head of the Department of Medical Education at <a href=\"https:\/\/fm.ucp.pt\/catolica-medical-school\"><strong>Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade Cat\u00f3lica<\/strong><\/a>), <strong>Ana Rita Constante<\/strong> (Executive Director of the <a href=\"https:\/\/cac-cl.pt\/\"><strong>Cat\u00f3lica Luz Clinical Academic Centre<\/strong><\/a>), and <strong>Mara de Sousa Freitas<\/strong> (Associate Professor at Cat\u00f3lica Medical School and Director of the Bioethics Institute at <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ucp.pt\/homepage\">Universidade Cat\u00f3lica Portuguesa<\/a>).<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On the second day, the sessions included engaging discussions and hands-on learning on topics such as: <em>Reproducibility<\/em> with <strong>Michiel de Boer<\/strong> (online), <em>Authorship and Publication Ethics<\/em> with <strong>Mariette van den Hoven<\/strong>, <em>Intersections of AI and Open Science \u2013 Ethical Considerations<\/em> with <strong>Marie Alavi<\/strong> (online), <em>Research Integrity in an International Context \u2013 Challenges and Opportunities<\/em> with <strong>Mariette van den Hoven<\/strong> e a <strong>Julia Priess-Buchheit<\/strong>, <em>Responsible Supervision<\/em> with <strong>Rita Santos<\/strong>, and <em>Ethical Dilemmas in Research<\/em> (World Caf\u00e9 style).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The final day of the course culminated in the closing conference <strong>\u201cResponsible Science: Building a Culture of Integrity in Research,\u201d<\/strong> held at the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/gulbenkian.pt\/\">Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Calouste Gulbenkian<\/a><\/strong> in Lisbon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Over the course of these three days, we engaged in rich discussions, meaningful exchanges, and thoughtful reflection &#8211; an experience that deeply resonated and reinforced the importance of cultivating a research environment grounded in integrity and ethical responsibility.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>We would like to extend a special thank you to the international speakers who, together with Professor Mara Freitas, co-organized this course &#8211;
