Its methodology is based on practical problem-solving from day one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>With applications\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fm.ucp.pt\/pt-pt\/mestrado-integrado-em-medicina\/candidaturas\">for the Integrated Master&#8217;s Degree in Medicine<\/a>\u00a0open until June 15th, Cat\u00f3lica Medical School is reinforcing its commitment to a course that promotes the practical application of knowledge. Through a disruptive pedagogical model, oriented towards\u00a0<em>Problem-Based Learning<\/em>\u00a0(PBL), the expectation is that not only the study method will be transformed, but also the students&#8217; perception of medicine itself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/fm.ucp.pt\/pt-pt\/pessoa\/paulo-oom\" type=\"link\" id=\"https:\/\/fm.ucp.pt\/pt-pt\/pessoa\/paulo-oom\">Paulo Oom,<\/a> Vice-Director of the Faculty, highlights that PBL &#8220;stimulates autonomy and critical thinking.&#8221; But that&#8217;s not all that distinguishes the course \u2013 <em>&#8220;teaching in English, the international language of medicine, helps prepare students for a global context,&#8221;<\/em> he adds. Furthermore, it&#8217;s a study plan that integrates <em>&#8220;form, function, and disease,&#8221;<\/em> he summarizes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u00facia Nogueira, a third-year student, and Martim Oliveira, a fifth-year student, are living proof that this methodology works. L\u00facia is in a crucial phase of transition to the clinical side; Martim, from the first edition of the course, is already walking the hospital corridors as if he were one step away from entering the job market. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Both agree on a fundamental point about what differentiates the course: the method.
