Science and Technology Week aims to bring the public closer to our scientists, to the work they do, and to the impact that work has on advancing knowledge and improving society’s well-being — and Católica Biomedical Research Centre (CBR) is proud to join this effort!

This week includes the National (Portuguese) Day of Scientific Culture, celebrated on 24 November, the birthday of Rómulo de Carvalho — a teacher, poet, and prominent science communicator. The commemorative day was established in 1996 by the then Minister Mariano Gago, and the following year the celebration of scientific culture was extended to an entire week.

From November 24th to November 30th, CBR joins numerous scientific institutions, universities, schools, museums, and science centres across the country in marking this occasion. More than 600 events celebrate the science produced in Portugal, through lectures, exhibitions, science cafés, and hands-on activities designed especially for younger audiences. These initiatives offer direct contact with the scientific community and a unique opportunity to discover some of the most recent advances across different fields of knowledge.
