Escape room to promote the Cognitive Neuroscience degree

This week marked the official opening of a new promotional escape room. It was created to showcase the recently launched Bachelor’s Degree in Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience. This program is offered by the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing (FCSE) in collaboration with the Católica Medical School.

The initiative offers an immersive and hands-on introduction to neuroscience. It encourages participants to engage in logical thinking, teamwork, and scientific exploration.

Furthermore, the escape room demonstrates how neuroscience applies to real-world challenges. Participants face tasks that simulate cognitive functions. As a result, they experience how theoretical knowledge translates into practical scenarios.

This innovative format sparks curiosity and introduces key neuroscience concepts through problem-solving activities. Moreover, it also serves as a gateway for prospective students to connect with faculty. Moreover, it allows them to explore the academic environment in an informal setting.

The launch event welcomed several distinguished guests. These included Professor Ana Mineiro, Director of FCSE; Professor António Medina de Almeida, Director of the Católica Medical School; Professor Amélia Simões Figueiredo, Director of the School of Nursing (Lisbon); and Professor Alexandre Castro Caldas, a prominent figure in neuroscience.

The event also featured the coordinators of the new degree: Professor Filipa Ribeiro and Professor João Miguel Pereira. Professor Joana Rato, coordinator of the Graduate and Advanced Training School at FCSE, was also present.

During the event, attendees had the opportunity to experience the escape room firsthand. They completed all challenges successfully through teamwork and collaboration.

Now, the invitation is open to the entire academic community. Secondary school students are also welcome to participate in this original and stimulating activity.

The escape room will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM and from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Ultimately, this initiative highlights the growing importance of neuroscience in understanding human behavior and decision-making. By gamifying scientific concepts, it helps bridge the gap between academic content and real-world application.

In conclusion, this escape room aligns with the university’s mission to innovate in science communication and outreach.
