Dermamatica, the startup founded by Sam Izadloo — a student at Católica Medical School — has won the “Most Promising Startup” award at the 929 Challenge in Macau!

The 929 Challenge brings together participants from China and Portuguese-speaking countries through Macau, fostering connections, collaboration, and the development of sustainable solutions. The 929 Challenge is co-organized by the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-Speaking Countries (Forum Macao) and several institutions of the Special Administrative Region, including all its universities.

Divided into two categories, 16 finalist teams – eight startups and eight representing Chinese and Portuguese-speaking universities – competed in the final round of the fifth edition of this Sino-Lusophone competition.

Dermamatica had already been recognized in June at another entrepreneurship competition in Macau, open to companies from Brazil and Portugal.

For the first time, Portuguese-speaking countries formed the majority of participants, representing around 65% of the more than 400 applications. The competition attracted 170 startups from Portuguese-Speaking African Countries (PALOP) and Timor-Leste – a 73% increase compared to 2024.

Congratulations to Sam Izadloo — may this be yet another remarkable achievement and recognition for Dermamatica as an innovative health-tech startup, particularly in the field of dermatology!
