The Faculty of Dental Medicine of the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (FMD-UCP) and the Center for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS) have officially joined the Inspire Dentistry international consortium — a global academic and scientific alliance in Dental Medicine.
This prestigious international consortium brings together four world-leading institutions from China, Brazil, Canada, and Portugal.
- The School of Stomatology at Peking University (China)
- The School of Dentistry at the University of São Paulo (Brazil),
- The College of Dentistry at the University of Saskatchewan (Canada)
- The FMD-UCP (Portugal), which is the only European institution in the consortium
Firstly, this initiative aims to foster cooperation between partner institutions in research, innovation, and education in Dental Medicine, promoting a global and multidisciplinary approach that spans four continents.
As a result, FMD-UCP participated in the Inspire Dentistry Research Forum, held in Beijing during Sino-Dental 2025 — the world’s largest Dental Medicine congress.
Moreover, FMD-UCP was represented by faculty members and researchers Nuno Rosa, Nélio Veiga, and Tiago Marques, who participated in scientific sessions, conferences, and working meetings alongside colleagues from the partner institutions.
For example, FMD-UCP faculty members presented innovative projects on digital dentistry and precision medicine.
- Nuno Rosa: “Salivary Diagnostics: From In Silico to Benchside, Aiming at Precision Medicine”
- Nélio Veiga: “Centre for Digital Education in Dental Medicine – Scientific and Pedagogical Innovation Applied in the Present and Future of Dental Medicine Education”
- Tiago Marques: “Digital Dentistry Research”
Consequently, the consortium paves the way for greater collaboration in scientific development across four continents.
In conclusion, FMD-UCP’s integration into this international network reinforces its commitment to scientific excellence, pedagogical innovation, and the internationalization of research. Therefore, it strengthens the institution’s role as a strategic hub for global advancement in Dental Medicine.
