Eight researchers from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) have been recognised among the best in the world. This recognition comes from the 2025 edition of the World’s Best Scientists ranking, published by the international platform Research.com. The highlighted fields include Psychology, Microbiology, Biology and Biochemistry, Social Sciences, Environmental Sciences, and the Humanities. This diversity underlines the impact and relevance of their scientific contributions.

Among the winners, in the field of Psychology, Alexandre Castro-Caldas from the Centre for Interdisciplinary Research in Health (CIIS) at the Faculty of Health Sciences and Nursing was also recognised. He is also the President of the Scientific and Strategic Board of the Católica Luz Clinical Academic Centre.

The ranking uses the D-index (Discipline H-index) to measure scientific impact. It considers the number of publications and citations within each specific research field. Data was updated up to November 2024, using platforms such as OpenAlex and CrossRef. This methodology highlights researchers who significantly advance knowledge and create meaningful social impact.
